What to do with all of these eggs?! Whether real eggs ready for boiling and coloring or plastic eggs waiting to be filled with treats, my guess is that your home, like mine, is running over with eggs. Here are 15 fun and creative kids activities to put those eggs to good use.
Real Eggs:
2. Egg paint bombs. Fill your egg shells with different colors of washable tempera paint and head outside for creative art! Have your child throw them against a large poster board or even on your sidewalk. I suppose the really brave could even have an egg bomb fight!
Plastic Eggs:
10. Creative Lego hunt. Speaking of non-traditional egg hunts, put tiny Lego bricks inside the eggs. Once each child has found as many eggs as he or she can, they must then dump all of their contents and make a Lego creation using what they found!
Real Eggs:
Save those breakfast egg shells! Rather than cracking them open the usual way, for the next several mornings, just make a hole in the top of the egg big enough for the yolk to slide out. After you've emptied your eggs, rinse them out and put them aside for these fun activities.
1. Create an egg garden. Let your child put some soil in the hollowed out egg shell and plant a seed in there. Draw silly faces on them, or decorate the egg shell “pots” however you like. Add water and sunlight, and watch your egg garden grow!
2. Egg paint bombs. Fill your egg shells with different colors of washable tempera paint and head outside for creative art! Have your child throw them against a large poster board or even on your sidewalk. I suppose the really brave could even have an egg bomb fight!
3. Egg volcano eruptions. Put in a few drops of food coloring and fill your eggs ¼ full with baking soda. Use a turkey baster to drop vinegar into the eggs and watch the reaction! We used this in conjunction with small dinosaur world play, and my boys enjoyed it.
4. Paint or draw on the eggs. Allow your child to create whatever her imagination can dream up using markers or paint. It may be a village of little egg people, which would be fun for imaginative play, or a beautiful artistic collection.

Plastic Eggs:
5. Love note eggs. Make this year's egg hunt extra special by adding small notes inside the eggs expressing your love and admiration for your child. You can make this it's own special egg hunt! “Find 12 reasons I love you!”
6. Have a glow in the dark egg hunt. Put glow sticks inside your plastic eggs and go hunting in the dark. Super fun!
7. Create an Easter sensory bin. I made our bin with rice, pom poms, plastic eggs, hard-boiled colored eggs, and a few pieces of chocolate! Get creative with your own Easter sensory bin!
8. Bubble bath egg hunt. Make a bath with extra foamy bubbles and throw in plastic eggs for a fun holiday-themed bath. You could even put small surprises in the eggs for more excitement.
9. Egg scavenger hunt. Number your eggs and fill them with clues to send your child on a fun Easter scavenger hunt.
10. Creative Lego hunt. Speaking of non-traditional egg hunts, put tiny Lego bricks inside the eggs. Once each child has found as many eggs as he or she can, they must then dump all of their contents and make a Lego creation using what they found!
11. Puzzle piece egg hunt. Another creative spin on the egg hunt is to buy a small toddler-sized puzzle and put each puzzle piece into a plastic egg. Once they find all the eggs, they then put the puzzle together.
12. Creative Easter snack time. Fill the plastic eggs with snack foods such as grapes, cheese cubes, or mini pretzels and serve open in an egg carton.
13. Make slime and fill your plastic eggs with the gooey stuff for a fun, surprising treat.
Slime: 4 oz of Elmer's white glue, 1 1/2 cup of water, 1 tsp of Borax powder. Pour glue and 1/2 cup of water in a container. Add food coloring if desired. In a separate container, mix 1 cup of water with 1 tsp of Borax powder. Slowly stir glue mixutre into the Borax solution. Knead to proper consistency.
14. Create a fun egg toss game. Use cups, buckets or small baskets at varying distances and worth varying points. Toss plastic eggs and score!
15. Make egg maracas! Fill plastic eggs with jelly beans and tape between two plastic spoons for Easter-inspired musical fun.
